In a dramatic statement vote, the House Financial Services Committee has given a nod to H.R. 1919, better known as the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act, a proposal that could put the brakes on a U.S. central bank digital currency. With a 27-22 vote, this legislation, spearheaded by House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, marks a decisive step by Republicans to fend off what they view as potential governmental overreach. Amidst a clamor of debates in Congress over digital assets, the bill stirs the pot by prioritizing financial privacy over perceived surveillance threats. On the other hand, the same committee passed the STABLE Act which would establish a clear regulatory framework for stablecoins should it pass full house and senate votes.

Meanwhile, the latest round of tariff announcements take markets for a ride while stablecoins and tokenization continue heating up!
